Job Duties/Scope Of Work
This position directly supports the MSC Contractor Classification Officer (CCO) in classification, declassification, and unclassified controlled nuclear information programs. Work activities may include but are not limited to:
* Review documents in potentially classified subject areas for appropriate marking and protection.
* Prepare materials for and conduct Department of Energy (DOE) required initial and biennial refresher training and testing for Derivative Classifiers/Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) Reviewing Officials.
* Provide classification assistance to authors developing documents in potentially classified subject areas.
* Review classified documents to determine if the documents may be declassified.
* Conduct classification oversight activities to measure compliance with program requirements.
* Maintain records associated with the classification program.
* Prepare various statistical reports.
* Perform periodic reviews and updates to programmatic procedural documents.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical discipline plus 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, and all levels of management.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


***Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" Access Authorization (clearance). Any offer is contingent on the successful completion of a thorough background investigation. As part of the investigation, Federal investigators will examine many aspects of the applicant's past including financial and criminal histories, mental and emotional health, education and travel, drug and alcohol usage, personal and organizational relationships, as well as other aspects of applicant's background.

Desired Qualifications
* Experience with use and interpretation of DOE classification guides.
* Knowledge of current and historical DOE defense production missions.
* Previous experience handling classified matter.
* Experience conducting classification/declassification reviews.
* Previous experience with special nuclear materials processing and/or nuclear waste management.
