Job Duties/Scope Of Work

At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. As an Co-op Engineer you will engage in the following activities, but are not limited to:

* Assist with design, processes and procedures necessary for safe operation and implementation of nuclear safety, environmental and regulatory requirements for assigned systems.

* Assist in providing technical direction for operational and maintenance activities to comply with national engineering, industry standards and codes and other requirements.

* Complete safety basis training for Balance of Site facilities, as appropriate, to ensure systems remain compliant.

* Demonstrate creativity, adaptive thinking and ability to comprehend and resolve day-to-day problems.

* Daily interface with Management, Support Organizations, Operations and Maintenance to support project goals and objectives by providing timely and sound technical direction.

* Communicates routinely with Operations, Maintenance, Work Planning, Radiation Control, and Nuclear Safety exempt and bargaining unit personnel. Occasionally required to communicate with off-site manufacturers/vendors to obtain technical specifications and information.

Basic Qualifications
* Full-time student enrolled at WSU-Tri-Cities or Columbia Basin College pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering

* At least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen

* Must be junior, senior, or graduate level academic standing, and have maintained a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)

* Committed to staying in school through graduation

* Willing and able to work 20-32 hours a week (some exceptions apply)

* Be committed to graduation

* Strong written and communication skills
