Job Duties/Scope Of Work
JOB SUMMARY:
The Water & Sewer Utilities Activity Manager - Water Purveyor will play a critical role in the development and coordination of Water & Sewer Utilities programmatic activities within the Compliance Group and reports directly to the Compliance Manager.
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to:
* Gather metrics and information used to develop wastewater monitoring reports, Small Water System Management Program, strategic planning, and corrective action management plans.
* Develop, review, approval, and tracking of procedures, can function as procedure Subject Matter Expert (SME).
* Test, implement and maintain electronic database for field data gathering; used for wastewater control program.
* Data gathering to support compliance reporting for Department of Health and Department of Ecology permits.
* Identify and evaluate new equipment and technology to be used for updating water and sewer infrastructure based on work package requirements.
* Read and accurately interpret Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Revised Code of Washington, Code of Federal Regulations, American Water Works Association, and other recommendations, standards, and guidelines.
* Interact with HMIS team members, other Hanford contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, off-site vendors, and the Department of Energy (DOE) in a professional manner.
* Attend virtual and off-site trainings on water distribution, water treatment, cross-connection control, on-site sewage disposal, wastewater collections and treatment, maintenance, and pass evaluation examinations when required.
* Have the ability to obtain state certifications in the area of water distribution, water treatment, cross-connection control, wastewater collections and/or treatment, and systems maintenance.
* To support the DFLAW and WTP mission, this position may be required to support 24/7 operations.
Other essential job duties for this position include:
* Act as technical consultant on problems and issues concerning safe and efficient operations and maintenance of plants and distribution systems.
* Identify and prepare justification for capital equipment not related to construction needs to support continuity of plant operation and upgrade requirements.
* Support engineering change notices and engineering data transmittal as required.
* May make formal presentations to management and instruct trainings.
This position is also responsible for the role of Water Purveyor to ensure the water systems are designed, operated, and maintained in accordance with the standards set forth in WAC 246-290, "Group A Public Water Supplies."
Responsibilities of the Water Purveyor include all planning and engineering documents, design of the public water systems, water quality, water systems operations, surface water treatment, reporting, and water use efficiency provisions as stated in the applicable Washington Administrative Code (WAC) regulations.
The Water Purveyor also provides oversight and guidance for all work activities with other Hanford contractors which have any impact on the Hanford Site water systems owned and operated by HMIS.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to multitask, exercise personal judgement, be adaptable and perform work with minimal supervision.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as excellent verbal and writing abilities.
* Be organized and able to handle multiple deadlines on compliance related metrics.
* Ability to read and understand/interpret blueprints, specifications, contract language, work instructions, and similar project documents.
* Must be self-motivated.

* Previous Facilities and/or Utilities experience.
* High level problem solving, and analytical skills required, along with good leadership qualities, communication skills, and strong administrative and delegating skills.
* Effective human relations and leadership skills to communicate and accomplish objectives throughout a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Must be skilled at integration and coordination of diversified organizations and support activities to achieve established goals and objectives.
* Possess or ability to obtain state certifications in the area of water distribution, water treatment, cross-connection control, wastewater collections and/or treatment, and systems maintenance.
* Must be proficient in computer use, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Compensation & Benefits
Grade 18: $104,175 - $131,425
Grade 19: $114,475 - $144,325
Grade 20: $126,025 - $158,875
